Class Descriptions:
Puppy Agility Class = This is a fun an exciting class designed for the handler/owner who is considering the sport of dog agility for their new dog. We will cover basic obedience such as sit, down, come, stay, basic puppy behaviors like chewing, jumping, barking, crate training, and housebreaking. We will also work on skills specific to agility with exercises to learn circle, around, right, left, hand touch, foot touch, and basic clicker training. We will introduce agility equipment that is age appropriate like the tunnels, puppy jumps, dogwalk and aframe, wobble board, travel plank and more.
Beginning Agility = This class is for owners and dogs that are new to the sport of Dog Agility. In this class, we will introduce all of the agility obstacles and will begin teaching basic groundwork skills needed for running an agility course. Dogs should understand basic commands such as sit, stay, and down.
Beginning 2 Agility = Dogs in this class have a good understanding of all the agility equipment but still need help with the contact obstacles and weave poles. We begin sequencing and introducing basic handling skills.
Novice Handling = This class is for handlers/dogs that have a complete understanding of all the agility equipment. This class will concentrate on handling skills such as foundation work for front and rear crosses, distance handling skills, understanding pressure and how to use it on a course and post turns. We will start evaluating courses and discuss concepts such as pressure, angles, and handling techniques.
Advanced Handling = This class is for handlers that have a solid understanding of all the crosses and turns needed to get through a course. We will introduce specific handling techniques such as how to handle lead-out's, front and rear crosses in pinwheels, obstacle discrimination, serpentines, reverse flow pivots, and other handling techniques. We will incorporate these skills while walking and running courses. Most of the class time is devoted to drill work with occasional course work.
Masters Handling = This class is for handlers/dogs that are training at the Masters level. Dogs do not necessarily need to be competing at this level, but they must have the skills. The class will consist mainly of masters level course evaluation/running and skill building drills. Dogs and handlers will be assessed on an individual basis to help determine the ideal handling skill for each dog/handler team. Enrollment into this class is by pre-approval only. Handlers must be evaluated by Kristy Netzer prior to enrollment. Please contact Kristy directly to reserve a space in a class.
